Tribes2 is bound to be a hit!
Unfortunately I can't do a full review of the game until it is released in stores and I can play it thoroughly. Since the game has gone gold I've been informed I'm no longer bound by the terms of the NDA so I'm going to post a bit about my chance previewing it and helping work out some bugs since I was on the beta team in December '2000. (unfortunately the beta got halted since too many morons violated the NDA - non disclosure agreement and posted too many flames on forums...what did the morons expect from a beta???) I thought the beta as it stood, was very fun. It wasn't a polished product, which was expected, but I'm confident that dynamix has done a lot of work on it in the past 4 months to make tribes2 as fun to play as tribes1 was. The graphics were rich and beautiful. The gameplay was more balanced than tribes1. The Heavies don't ski faster than lights so matches probably won't be mortar spam fests anymore and strategies will be much different than we experienced in the past. The vehicles looked very buff. Another neat feature tribes2 has is in game e-mail. So if I signed up with the username "Dopper", my buddies could send an e-mail in game to "Dopper" and it would show up in my tribes2 inbox. The first thing you see when you enter the game is almost like an online gaming service. It has all the news updates listed. It also has seperate tabs for community features such as interactive user forums, clan lists, user lists, personal profiles, player settings & ......I have writers block and Marauder has informed me to post my preview as is because I haven't been able to come up with anything to add for quite some time so here's some pretty screenshots to look at! :)

This was the tribes2 loader screen when you launched the game for the first time during beta.
This is the tribes2 beta automatically checking for an updated version of the game, cool!
Unfortunately the beta was disabled so I couldn't patch it and get the new version *sob*
Here's what the login screen looked like. You get this everytime the game is launched.
Here is the registration screen you must fill out in order to signup to play online/offline.

mmmmmm snow falling in the mountains how pretty. Checkout the sweet "North" directional arrow, sweet!
This thing rotates around in circles and it is the item that holds captures that tower for your team.
Dopper lands to hard. Ouch! Another screen of the tower that I captured. All your base are belong to us!
Is that a turd in the bottom of that hill? Yes...yes I think it is...Mr.Emahn you dropped your turd!
Mr.Emahn dropped a turd skiing away from me down this hill so he wouldn't get gibbed, what a newB!

Look at those grenades fly! Sweet distance. And aiming reticles built in by default!!!
Lining up a shot with the sniper rifle at the top of a nearby mountain, nice fog effects!
And there goes the lazer beam as the rifle gets fired. Sniper rifles are always lots of fun!
Beautiful plasma gun lights up the hills. This model got replaced in a later revision.
The lighting effects and sound effects of the disk launcher are very well done.
