Must get news scripts working.... Must get news script working. Well, we're over to the new server and it looks like nothing has blown up yet. (Thank god.) New machine is nice and fast, and I sort of have the news script working.. Sort of.. Well, I can post news but it doesn't appear here yet. Grrreeeaaattt.. More work to be done on this tomorrow when I have time.

A few news items today, first off, Fragapalooza is coming to Toronto. LAN LAN LAN baby! You can bet your ass that the FRAGtopia staffers will be there partying it up and covering the event... Maybe even giving out some prizes for sportsmanship and such, check the site, the event is sceduled for November 29th->December 1st at the International Centre. (Woot!) Join usssssss..... :)

I've added our first link to the "friends" section on the right. Check out Radio Gamer for the latest and greatest in gaming news in audio.. Ohhhhhhh... Creamy. :)

The 1942 review has been up for 3 days and we're already over 3,000 hits on it. I think that's some kind of a record. Thanks for the interest everyone! :)

From Gezerman, we've got some interesting facts and comparisons about the software industry. It's funny, 'cause it's true. :)

Figured has been a busy little link monkey, sending in some great time wasters. Thanks bud. :) If you're ever really bored, counting toilet paper and saving your company tens of thousands of dollars might make your boss consider giving you time off. (Yay) I'm always concerned when governments try something like this.. Especially when it's "To stop crime" or "To fight terrorism" or "To protect the children" or whatever other emotion BS is the flavour of the day on the media scene. You just can't trust these f(*&*(s, and you and I both know it.

Thanks to Generator256, that wacky limey for sending in a cool little flash game.. It's English History in Action! Apparently all of English history has consisted of kids dressed up with play weapons running around a castle. Personally I'm just in favor of shooting kids dressed up funny.. Or anyone else from England.

Anyhows, time for me to get to bed. Night all! :)

Sept 24.2002 - UT2003 due out soon!
posted by: Rune icq# 9384208 - 23:30

Mark Rein, the biz dude at Epic Games posted a bit on the official forums letting us know that UT2003 should be released within about 10 days! Here's a juicy bit of it for ya:

Actually it will probably take less than 10 days to start appearing in stores in the USA. It could be as early as next Friday.

Xbit Labs reports that Visiontek (R.I.P.) may be resurrected under the name BFG Technologies (hah! I hope that's a Doom reference) with a bit of help from Nvidia. Check the details over here on Xbit.

Intel's busting out the new tech with the annoucement that they've managed to create the first 3D transistors! Apparently these babies will help to really boost efficiency as computer chips shrink smaller and smaller.

I'm not sure what to think of Blizzard's newly announced Starcraft: Ghost. I mean on one hand the graphics look spectacular and the whole third person adventure thing is cool but somebody forgot to hook us PC gamers up as this one's only supposed to be released for "next-generation" consoles. I also get the feeling that this one's going to be a lot more of an adventure game than the traditional RTS. Well at least it's got Mechs in it... that'll make Marauder happy. Hopefully this'll eventually get ported in the PC. In the meantime we'll have to be content to drool over the screenshots.

Oh great... just what we need... another generation of couch potato kids. Why couldn't I have gotten school assignments like this when I was a kid? I'd would been a straight A student too and homework might have been fun for a change instead of an unceasing agony.

Wil Wheaton (who played the annoying Wesley kid on Star Trek the Next Generation) actually has a pretty cool website. He's TV/movie writer these days and I guess that he still had a sizable number of fans from Star Trek (i.e. the ones who weren't throwing things at the TV every time he appeared on screen) so he's always updating it with news of his misadventures. In the latest update he tackles switching over to Mandrake Linux and getting rid of Windows. Check it out, it makes for an entertaining read. Oh btw, in case you were wondering yes he did have a scene in the new movie but it got cut at the last minute.

Sept 23.2002 - So much news. :)
posted by: Marauder icq# 12419781 - 22:35

Hey all, and welcome to our new server. :) The new web server is up and running.. It's ALIVE! IT'S ALIVE! I'm working on getting a news script working as we speak, to make posting news a little easier for the people who want to do it. I've also added a "Friends" link spot just to the right of the news, under the screenshot of the decade box. (Note to everyone, I'm trying to update the screenshots more often, but I need your help damn it. Send me your sweet screenshots. It's not that hard!)

If you can't tell, I'm very excited about the new server. It's going to let me do some stuff that I've wanted to do for ages, but couldn't because of the NT machine we were hosting on. Now I have complete control over the server. I am it's Daddy, it is my son. Together we will. Well.. Do stuff. Probably things that are illegal and disturbing to consider. I've also renewed my passion for writing useless drivel with the latest review, Battlefield: 1942. It's funny, you can really tell the months where I don't post a review. We're down around 15,000 hits or so.. Months I'm on a reviewing spree we're much MUCH higher. Anyhows, here's a few little pieces of news to cheer up your pathetic life.

Just listening to some amazing tunes as I write this. Thanks to the imortal Dman for this link to the sweet, sweet techno stylings of IN10S.

We've been honored today with a useless but amusing and time wasting link from Planet Quake's own Jube, the cutest person currently posting news for the imortal PQ Overlord, Pappy. Ever wanted to make your own South Park character? Just click here and enjoy. Personally, I think I look pretty studly with an assault rifle and a round head.

I find it pretty disturbing that McDonald's and Intel are placing adverts into the Sims Online... But then again, why the hell not right? Could we one day be fragging along in Quake X and see a big "FRAGtopia wuz here" logo on the wall? Cigarette ads in the newest Bob the Builder and Disney games? Where will it all stop?

Are you a porn addict? Of course you are. We can tell. Well, perhaps you should consider switching over to an Mac? They've got alllll the ports! Thanks Gezer.

On the emulator scene, are you looking to get a complete set of MAME games on the cheap? Check out these guys, they've got a great service. Love 'em. Don't use MAME? How can you hug your mother with those filthy hands? Go download it and enjoy.

Our very own Dopper had a problem a while ago with a hacker attacking his system and making it his bitch. Seems that MS doesn't even have a clue what's going on. Check this article out, and know their shame. And remember kids, Hacking doesn't kill people. Getting caught hacking by Marauder does.

Just in from Dman, could we be seeing a Futurama game?? Oh baby. :) I don't see "PC" on the platform list though, the rotten bastards. I hate them already.

Anyhows, I'm out for the moment.
