Hey all. It has been awhile since I have done a review. Well this really isn't a review this is a preview of a game that is coming out soon. One of my favorite games. Command & Conquer Renegades by Westwood . Looking at the screen shots from Westwood from E3 and well what can I say it looks great

A little movie from E3

Also another note Fragtopia is a week away and well I can't wait. For all that don't know me I'm the Network Administrator for Fragtopia. Server is looking pretty sweet. I got the IRC Server running good with all the DalNet Services. The IRC Server will be Internal for the LAN and also External for the Internet. So yes anyone will be able to join as long as you have Internet Access. Come back on Friday June 1, 2001 and the IP will be posted to connect. Most likely it will be irc.fragtopia.dhs.org but of course it isn't working untill we get to Fragtopia.

Also I have a little article about Rogers@Home Service if you would like to see it click here

Laterz ppl,

GezerMan

Dave G. from Dynamix was interviewed by TSN and explains many of the changes built into the newest patches for tribes2. Some of the topics discussed include tribes2 for the playstation 2 & using a gamepad/joystick vs mouse/keyboard. Also he discusses the maps that were changed, framerate improvements, benchmarked systems, optimizations for voodoo users, geforce3, new scoring system with 100points per cap, gameplay being faster, tribes2 cheats, the progress of tribes2 demo recording, bugs and unfinished parts of the game. Check it out now in this mp3 from either the tsn mirror of fragtopia mirror now!

Hey all. Cattrah from Game Citizen sends in word of their upcoming UT tourney:

The name of the competition is "The Unreal Tournament Project." There are two perfectly good reasons to sign up for the tourney: 1. for the love of the game, and 2. because the winner takes home a PlayStation 2 console!!!

"The Unreal Tournament Project" takes place on Thursday, May 24, and it begins at 8:00pm E.S.T. People who are interested in signing up for the tournament have to be members at GameCitizen.com. But that's the easy part. Plus, registration is TOTALLY FREE!

To sign-up for GameCitizen membership, go to the "Register" section (http://www.gamecitizen.com/en/membre/inscription.php3), and once you've filled out all the necessary information, download the "Atrium" (http://www.gamecitizen.com/en/telecharger/atrium.php3) which is GameCitizen's online gaming application and chatroom.

Then, all you do is sign up for the "Unreal Tournament Project" (http://www.gamecitizen.com/en/communaute/ficheevent.php3?pg=eventindex&id=10) and you could be the owner of a PS2 console as soon as Thursday night!

Hmmmmm. Free PS2...........

Marauder out.

Well it's about time nobody "beat me" to the news post. So I can finally use the titlebar I made...LAST TUESDAY. Anyhow some great news, you can now order acclaims new title "blast lacrosse" from their website. It's the first lacrosse video game I've ever seen developed. Take a look at some of these screenshots! Here's a preview clip of it from either acclaim & fragtopia mirrors. It looks similar to the NHL series of games, only faster paced action...and a better sport! :) By looking at the clip, you wouldn't think that it was released for the sony playstation....but it is! I'm hoping they release a version for the PC in the near future with full opengl support.

One of my tribes2 teammates (Jon Peters) works for ensemble studios who was recently aquired by Microsoft. He's been ranting about this game they've been working on very hard called AOK - Age of Kings. It looks pretty damn sweet too! It's a Real Time Strategy game and the graphics look very nice. Go take a look at this review from Gamespot!

Discovered this strange site where a guy will draw pictures of titles you send him. If you really have nothing better to do, check explodingdog.com for a very bizarre website. (yes it does get frequently updated, which scares me) If you check that site regularly maybe you have enough time on your hands to make one of these. (pete..j/k)

I've recieved word that a really cool game is being developed called "Horizons" They will be taking limited beta applicants in Q3/Q4 2001. The screenshots they have up on their site are almost as impressive as in "Clive Barkers Undying" which had some of the best textures & ambience/sound effects I've ever seen.

In other news....ALL YOUR SMURF ARE BELONG TO SMURF!!!!

For you Dreamcast fans out there (Rune). You may be interested in "the linux dreamcast project".

I've had an article bookmarked for a month now about Transgaming and how they've been implementing Direct3D into Wine.

Casemod buffs....check it out, it's the "fastest computer on wheels!"

I'm still waiting in anticipation for the relase of WWII Online. It is looking pretty sweet and you can pre-order your copy if you want to be one of the first handfull to get your hands on a copy.

booyah folks... couple more little tweaks. in an attempt to maintain consistency, the default font for index.htm is now arial. so if you want times new roman, be sure to specify. if you want times new roman all the time, lemme know and i'll set it that way. but unless otherwise specified, it'll show as arial. (dreamweaver currently doesn't support this feature, but IE and nutscrape do, so it won't show up in most editors but it will in the browsers)

we be jammin'.

marauder how in gods name do you work with layers? i'm sitting here, and i'm all "layer? wtf? i need alcohol to solve this". then i watch u-571 and go play game 3 of the stanley cup finals.

Kingpin (ICQ #: 7100288)

What's up? Why does it always seem that with fragtopia just 2 short weeks away everyone starts coming out of the woodwork? ( including me :)) )

As you see I was also nice enough to dig up Prae's bullet so that he wouldn't feel left out!

Just a note to let all of you fragtopia attendees know we will be capturing parts of the weekend to DV for the sake of the future generation (or at least to have as blackmail if needed). Also it's just a great reason for me to brag and show off my new toy!

Can anyone tell me WHAT THE HELL is up with Tribes 2 ?!?!?! it seems that they are doing more unpatching the patching of the game. Last I heard the last 2 patches just unpatched most of the patches we had to download!?! I'd really like to know why they have to rush games into production. I guess that better left for the game god's to ponder over.

News from E3..... Microsoft has announced that they new X-Box will be in stores on or about the 1st of November and they are taking orders for souls as we speak! To counter Nintendo is pimping their new GameCube and pricing will begin @ about $200.00 us with games going for about $50.00 us. So now we just have to sit back and see who is willing to sell their soul for gaming goodness (cough * Rune ** Cough)

Ok... I guess if you come to this site often enough you realize the we here @ FRAGtopia are true gamers. (Unlike out friend John Romero who boxes up crap and calls it a game!) So on that note I have a few new previews and trailers for you. (I know you love me!) The first is for warcraft 3 and the second is for Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds The latter of which I'm not all that impress with. (But that's just my opinion!)

Well that's it for me.... see you in a bit!

y0 y0 y0 give up the rock

sup all? it's me again, sneaking in mad l33t n1nja styles with a little of this, that, and the other thing.

this is a slightly tweaked site, if marauder approves. and by slightly, i'm saying like very small amounts- even staffers might not see exactly what's going on. that's the idea- it's just a couple things that will hopefully make things a little easier on your eyes; it sure did for me. there's a lot of information to digest here, so by adjusting a little bit of alignment, colours, widths, etc i think it makes a big difference. (note: marauder did approve. however, you may have to click here to get it working if you loaded this page prior to the changes being made (between 3 am and 1:00 pm on the twenty-first))

oh and btw if anyone has the template for the date banner thing, including a font, i'd love it. if anyone has some time, change today's into the proper format. thx a million.

that is i'm going to apologize quite profusely for my m.i.a. status. it seems that i've really been unable to balance things in the last few months, and somewhere along the lines someone is always suffering for it. marauder, kingpin, and all the rest of the fragtopia crew have definately not gotten the attention i want to be giving, and i'm truly sorry for that. it shocks me quite a lot to think that fragtopia 2(001) is right around the corner... but i digress. the crew around here have been a most excellent group of friends these past few years, and all i can offer is my sincerest apologies for not being there for you guys- especially since you've always been there for me.

the other thing is gore. i mentioned it over at 3 finger salute the other day, but in case some of you aren't readers of the best thing to hit the inter since net, you should definately check out this fps. go to the site and download the demo, and rock on fellow fraggers. rock the fuck on.

and i'm gone almost before you realize i'm here...

Marauder (ICQ #: 12419781)

Just got a new article writen and posted. It's just a few little things about the future... A horrible and post appolyptic future where all shall bow down before the evil Marauder!!!!! MMWHAHAHAH!!! (Or something like that anyhows.)

Hey! Pappy from Planet Quake posted my photo I did on their daily news! Huyuk! Look ma! I'm faymus!

Game Citizen has posted an interview with little 'ol me. Therein many of the dark secrets of FRAGtopia are mentioned and revealed in all their evil glory.

Marauder (ICQ #: 12419781)

I was rummaging around my old NASA photos and found something that I'm not sure anyone over there has noticed yet from their photos of Mars. Take a look.

Marauder out... for now...

Ladies and Gentlemen, the world's first console that crashes just like a pc :) ahh good to know some things don't change. It's been reported the hardware config of the X-Box, is about as stable as crazed axe murderer. Could we ever expect anything different from Microsquash? read the article here and laugh it up :)

Rune (ICQ #: 9384208)

I'm usually not big on consoles but I have to admit that even I'm physed up about a few of the x-box games (Plea to Microsoft: pleeease, pleease, release a VGA adapter!).

Unreal Championship has that sweet outdoor, high-poly goodness that we've seen and heard about being in the new Unreal Engine. Well-rounded has some mind-numbing shots of the action over here. It just makes me want to slather myself in Nutella and... err nevermind...

The icing on the cake is that this one is being made by the (Canadian) Digital Extremes guys, the same people who co-developed Unreal and Unreal Tournament with Epic games. Their flash site is very trippy.

The in-engine flyin sequences and in game action in the Dead or Alive 3 movie that was just released has me drooling on my keyboard. Yeah, I'm mostly a First Person Shooter gamer myself but like many people I occasionally have a hankering to bust out a mean combo-move or five in a good old-fashioned beat-'em-up. DOA3 certainly delivers. It's funny to hear the camera guy shooting the video of the action exclaim with a "whoa" or "cool" and from the background sounds he wasn't the only one admiring this game. Check it out!

Of course in the PC world Unreal II is looking to be incredible itself. Gamespy has got the goods on the this amazing new shooter as well as some never before seen screenshots. Give it a once-over (or in this case twice) here and be sure to be sitting down before you do.

Speaking of Unreal-related matters, Gamespy is again on the ball with an interesting interview with the Unreal Pimp-daddy himself, Cliffy B. Cliffy talks about the upcoming Unreal tech vs the new Doom 3 game, his take on the whole gaming-violence thing, and whether online gaming for the masses will be successful. Here's a little bit for ya:

GameSpy: What breakthrough/technical advances are you most looking forward to?

Cliff Bleszinski: I just want everybody in America to have broadband. That's all I want and I'll be happy. And as long as porn exists, people will be getting broadband, so I feel good , because technology is driven by jokes and porn. It's true! I'm going to continue to evangelize this point; you can even call it a "Cliffy-Ism" as long as there is the ability to transfer humor and porno, then the technology will thrive.

Look at e-mail right; publicly people share jokes, right? They send jokes back and forth from one another. Privately they share porn, right? So technology is not driven by the games or databases or all the actual legitimate uses for it, technology is driven by the jokes and porn. So that is why the VCR became huge because you can watch porn in your own home and Eddie Murphy movies.

OMG, he's right!

Aliens vs Predator is back in AVP2! Voodoo Extreme has slapped up some screenies of this new tweaked and enhanced Lithtech 2.0 title here and you can grab even more of that AVP lovin' here.

Hopefully they've make the multiplayer a little more balenced this time around as before the marines were only good as tasty snacks for the Aliens. The Predator was a little too overpowered in the original in my mostly humble opinion. I know that I'll be wanting to play with this. Not to be left out, AVPnews has posted an interview with the producer Dave Stalker (who has a somewhat appropriate-sounding last name). They also have snagged a rather graphic movie clip that was originally supposed to be the intro movie to the first game. Warning: Not for those with a weak stomach!

Gamespot has the dirt on newly announced Jedi Knight II, the sequel to the last really good Starwars game (and Podracer doesn't count although the rush of colliding with your rivals at 900 MPH and cursing in alien languages does have it's moments). With Raven software providing the developing prowess, and Ghoul2 NPC system (used to great effect in games like Star Trek: Elite Force) and id's Quake III engine handling the graphical goodness this will be one to keep your eye on this one......and remember, I am your father (bawahahahaha...)...

About that spiffy new Duke Nukem Forever Video that Iceman alluded to earlier... well a few much higher quality versions of it have recently hit the web and it is indeed impressive. If you're not on a phat pipe I'd recommend leaving this one going for a few days though as the really high quality versions clock in at about 40 meg or so. Go here to VE's list of mirrors to kick ass and chew bubblegum!

While you're there, also make sure to grab that new Max Payne footage that Remedy just put out today at E3. Some buff looking action!

<sigh> so many good games so little time...

Iceman (ICQ #: 17128385)
This has to be bad for Microshaft, it seems that according a survey done of "What do you spend the most time doing on your computer?" at 54%, "Staring at a blue screen of death.",was the number one answer. And what do we do about it? nothing we keep using their buggy OS everyday of our lives. Where's the justice? oh well ready the article here.

WOOHOO!! First post of the day and boy do we have some goodies for you.

First off I've actually seen some talk about DNF being released within this century, so I guess 3DREALMS hasn't died. A video of the so called 'Quake Killer' was released at E3 today and we have a link for all you die hard duke fans to check out.

Asus you cheating buggers!! we'll have no more of that, Punk Busters has come up with a way to detect if someone is using the cheating drivers. here's a little snip from the article of course all credit for this information was found on Hardocp.

We are creating 2 new Violation Codes for the upcoming detection patch release. These are Violations #9951 (Asus Driver) and #9952 (OpenGL Passthrough). Violation #9951 will indicate that the user has an Asus driver installed that was not otherwise detected with existing Violation #113 which will still be used to indicate detection of a well-known widely distributed cheat version of Asus drivers. If you have an Asus video card and wish to use PunkBuster, please visit www.nvidia.com to obtain the detonator drivers that will work with your card. Violation #9952 will indicate that the user has multiple different OpenGL Drivers loaded into memory. While this will not always necessarily indicate the presence of a "wallhack cheat", there is no reason for an honest player to need multiple OpenGL Drivers loaded into memory while playing online .

Make way for Tribes 2 goodies galore, the first mod (as I've been told) for Tribes 2, called 'Tribes 2 Evolution' , sites a little busy though so you might have trouble getting to it.

Also check out this sweeeet, sound pack with over 1500!! quotes, enough to keep you amused or taunt your opponent till your blue in the face. I would try to pay a little attention to the game though so you don't get your ass owned by some newbie.

And finally a neat little configuration tool for Tribes 2, use at your own risk though, we aren't responsible if your Tribes 2 character grows a third nipple. :) go get it here.

That's it for now, stay tuned...
