FRAGtopia was originally started as an idea by Tim "Belial" Coburn. He mentioned to Dave Kratky (Marauder) that someone should really organize a big LAN party in the Orangeville area (We're located approx. 1 hour North of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.) Naturally I thought he was right off his rocker. Shortly after this time, Belial dropped off the face of the earth..

But he had Marauder thinking.... And so, on May 6th of 2000 the staffers walked into our local curling club and set up the area's first big LAN. We drew 60 or so gamers from all over Ontario, including Pappy-R from Planet Quake and a few from the northern states as well. The party was an absolute blast, everyone had a great time.

Our next big LAN was held on June 2nd of 2001, and again drew about 65 gamers. This time we had people from as far away as California come, as well as the entire Planet Quake crew (Pappy, we loves yah.) and a bunch of the guys from Shining Force, an old clan from all over the USA and Canada. It was a great party, but again we were a little disappointed by the turn out.

As of the moment there's unlikely to be another big party, as we don't seem to be able to draw enough people to make it worth the time and money invested. (Just breaking even has always been our goal, never yet achieved.) But I'll be helping out at other southern Ontario LANs, as well as covering them for the site. Cyah all there!

After the 2000 party was over, we weren't sure what to do with the site until the next party... So I started posting news and reviews just for fun. Praetorian was supposed to help out, and did for a little bit but just had too much to do to keep up. Rune offered to help out, as did Iceman and Dopper. (You'll see stuff from them occasionally.)

That's what we've been doing ever since. Marauder's the guy who runs the site, and posts most of the reviews and news. Rune helps out with the news, and other people will drop by with the occasional review or rant. Right now we're getting an average of around 700-1000 hits a day. Not too shabby considering this is something we just do for fun in our spare time. :)
